Reporting a bug

It helps a lot if your email includes:

Never send us your password or card details. We will never ask for them.

Common questions

How do I sign in?

The last step of the sign-up quiz makes your account. Type your email and enter the 6-digit code we email you, or use Sign in with Apple. There’s no password to remember. No code? Check your spam folder, or tap Resend after 30 seconds.

Your logs are backed up with your account, so on a new phone you sign in the same way and they come back. Progress photos stay on the phone they were taken on and are never backed up.

How do I stop tips and offers emails?

We only send them if you ticked “Email me tips and offers from GymFork” when you signed up. To stop them, tap Unsubscribe at the bottom of any of those emails, or untick the box in the app under Profile. We stop within 10 business days at most, usually right away. You’ll still get emails the app needs, like your sign-in code.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Apple runs subscriptions, so you cancel through Apple:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap GymFork, then tap Cancel Subscription.

You can also cancel at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. If you’re on a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends so you aren’t charged. After you cancel, you keep the paid features until the end of the period you already paid for.

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

How do I restore my purchases?

Got a new phone or reinstalled the app? Go to Profile > Subscription > Restore Purchases. Your iPhone needs to be signed in to the same Apple Account you used to subscribe. It brings back your subscription. To bring back your logs too, sign in to GymFork on the new phone the same way you did on the old one (the same email, or Sign in with Apple). Still not working? Email us a screenshot of your receipt from Apple. It shows the order ID we need.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Profile > Account > Delete account. It happens right away: your logs and progress photos are deleted from your phone, and everything our server keeps about you is deleted too, including your email address, your backup and any WHOOP data. The app shows a screen when it’s done. We keep anonymous purchase records for accounting and tax, with nothing that identifies you. Copies in our backups are gone within 90 days.

Deleting just the app doesn’t delete your account: your backup stays on our server so you can sign in again. Use Delete account to remove it. If the workout plan adds to your calendar, Delete account also removes the GymFork calendar.

Lost your phone or can’t open the app? Email privacy@gymfork.com from the email address you signed up with. If you used Sign in with Apple, tell us the email you used (your Hide My Email address, if you picked that).

Deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription. Cancel it first (see above).

How do I download my data?

Go to Profile > Account > Export my data. You’ll get a file with your food log (including My meals), workouts, bodyweight entries, water, body measurements and targets. You can open it in a spreadsheet or bring it to another app. If you need anything else, email privacy@gymfork.com.

How do I connect or disconnect Apple Health?

To connect: in the app, go to Profile > Apple Health and tap Connect. Apple shows a screen where you choose which data to share. You can turn on some types and leave others off.

To disconnect: open the Health app, tap Summary, tap your picture or initials, tap Apps under Privacy, tap GymFork, and turn off what you want. You can also stop syncing in our app under Profile > Apple Health.

GymFork never copies your Health data anywhere. It reads it live to show it to you, so there’s nothing on our server to delete. Meals, workouts and weights the app saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.

How do I connect or disconnect WHOOP?

Connecting WHOOP is optional. Go to Profile > Extra tracking > WHOOP, tap Connect, sign in on WHOOP’s own page and allow GymFork. The app then shows your recovery, HRV (heart rate variability), sleep and strain next to your training. We never see your WHOOP password, we never write anything to your WHOOP account, and we don’t keep your WHOOP data: it passes through our server to your phone as you look at it.

To disconnect, tap Disconnect in the same place, or remove GymFork in your WHOOP account settings. Other watches, like an Apple Watch, Garmin or Oura, work through Apple Health instead.

If the app says WHOOP connections are full, WHOOP hasn’t approved more connections for GymFork yet. Your sleep and heart rate can still come through Apple Health.

GymFork works fine without Apple Health.

How do I log food?

You can:

You can change the grams or portion of anything, before and after you save it. Just tap it in your log. For the closest numbers, weigh your food or scan the barcode.

Why does the app ask to use my camera?

To scan barcodes and to take progress photos, nothing else. When you scan a barcode, the camera image is read on your phone to find the barcode number, and it’s never saved or sent anywhere. Progress photos stay on your phone: we never upload them or back them up, so they don’t move to a new phone. If you’d rather not allow the camera, you can search for foods instead and pick progress photos from your library. To change it later, open your iPhone’s Settings app, then tap Privacy & Security > Camera.

How does the workout plan work with my calendar?

The workout plan is off unless you turn it on in Profile > Workout plan. When you do, the app asks to send you reminders and to use your calendar. It makes its own calendar called “GymFork”, puts your planned workouts there, and moves them when you change your plan. It never reads your other events, and nothing about your calendar leaves your phone. Turning off Profile > Workout plan > Add to Apple Calendar, or deleting your account, deletes the GymFork calendar. Deleting just the app leaves that calendar behind, so turn it off first, or delete the GymFork calendar in the Calendar app afterwards.

How do reminders work?

Meal reminders are off until you turn them on in Profile > Meal reminders and pick a time for a meal. If you’ve already logged that meal, the reminder is skipped. The rest timer can also tell you when your rest is up while you’re in another app. The app asks to send notifications the first time you need one. To turn them off, open your iPhone’s Settings app and tap Notifications, then GymFork.

How do I change my calorie target?

Go to Profile > Goals. You can type in your own calorie and macro targets, or retake the quiz to get new ones. It’s a good idea to update them when your weight or your goal changes.

Each week, the check-in may suggest new calorie targets from what you logged and your weight trend. It’s an estimate, worked out on your phone, and nothing changes unless you tap to accept.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments for GymFork, so refunds go through Apple:

  1. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Tap “I’d like to”, then choose “Request a refund”.
  3. Pick the reason, then tap Next.
  4. Choose your GymFork subscription, then tap Submit.

Apple decides on refunds. We can’t give them ourselves.

I’m 16 or 17. What’s different?

GymFork is for people 16 and older. If you’re 16 or 17:

Is GymFork medical advice?

No. GymFork is a tracker, not a doctor or a dietitian, and its numbers are estimates. Talk to a doctor before you make big changes to how you eat or train, especially if you have or have had an eating disorder, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a medical condition.

If you’re struggling with food or body image, you’re not alone. In Canada, you can reach the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) at nedic.ca or 1-866-633-4220. In an emergency, call 911.
